We're here. We're queer. Get used to it.

Sure.

But we've been here, we've been queer, and we've made substantial positive contributions to society that have been swept under the rug of our shared American history. Join Mitch Harris in the Queer Year podcast as he pulls back that rug traveling state by state throughout the U.S. uncovering the people, places, and events that have shaped what it means to be queer in America.

Queer Year is a monthly podcast written, recorded and produced by Mitch Harris that focuses on one state per episode to reveal the LGBTQ+ heroes of that state forgotten by history.

1781 was a queer year when an openly gay immigrant became major general of the U.S. Army. 1886 was a queer year when a formerly enslaved man became America's first drag queen started hosting balls in Maryland. 2022 was a queer year when Salt Lake City Council became a majority queer-identifying body in the heart of America's most religiously conservative state.
